Alton M. Pagel, 92, passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2012, at a Fredericksburg care center. He was born on May 26, 1919, in Gonzales County, Texas to Ernest W. and Ella (Adlof) Pagel. He also had a brother, Ernest W. Pagel, Jr., and sister, Geneva Annette.

Alton was the Val Victorian of Gonzales High School and graduating class of 1937. He joined the Army Air Corp

(1944-46) serving during World War II. Alton married Virginia Allene Carter on Aug 3, 1940 at her family”s home near Luling.

He was a building contractor and contractor supervisor for several lumber companies. He was raised in the Methodist Church and active and loyal member in Gonzales, Seguin, Eagle Pass and Brackettville.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Virginia Pagel (2005); his brother, Ernest W. Pagel (1971); and his sister, Geneva Annette Pagel.

Alton is survived by his loving children, Geneva Ellis and husband, Jim, of Fredericksburg, and Louise Peterson, of Round Rock; five grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

He will be loved and missed by many other family members and friends.

A Memorial of Celebration of Alton Pagel”s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2012, at San Marcos Primitive Baptist Church, Highway 90 in Luling, Texas. Interment was scheduled prior at the High Smith Cemetery in Luling.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Wright”s Funeral Parlor, Kerrville, Texas.
