Betty Jane Butler Edwards, 85, of the Golden Age Home, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2008.
Betty was born Jan. 11, 1923 in Springdale, Pa. Betty and Bill Edwards were married on Nov. 8, 1945, after Bill returned home from serving in WWII.
Although Betty and Bill had no children of their own, their love and affection were directed toward all their family and fr

iends” children. Their Greentree home in Pennsylvania was also a gathering place for neighborhood get-togethers, holiday celebrations and special occasions. Betty was a great hostess and loved to give a party at a minute”s notice. She also enjoyed doing lots of arts and crafts. Betty worked as a switchboard operator at St. Clair Hospital until her retirement in 1988. Betty and Bill were members of the Covenant Community Presbyterian Church of Pittsburgh.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, W.C. “Willy Bear” Edwards; father, W.P. Butler; mother, Anna C. R. Harding Butler; and two sisters.
She is survived by her two brothers, M. W. “Bill” Butler of Gulfport, Miss., and Donald Butler of Red Rock, Texas, and numerous nephews and nieces.
The family of Betty would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and caregivers at the Golden Age Home for the care received and love given to Betty. Also, special thank you to the doctors and staff at Edgar B. Davis Hospital in Luling for the quality of treatment and support while Betty was there.
Final arrangements were made through Eeds Funeral Home, 408 S. Main St., Lockhart (512) 398-2343, in accordance with Betty”s last wishes.
