Calvin A. Kuntschik, of Prairie Lea, formerly of Gonzales, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 1, 2008. He was born on July 23, 1932, in the Saturn Community to the late Anton John and Mary Josephine Hohensee Kuntschik.
He served in the National Guard, was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Hermann Sons Lodge, NRA and the Sport

sman’s Club.
He owned and operated Kuntschik Construction Company and built commercial poultry houses all over the state of Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy “Dot” Kuntschik of Prairie Lea; daughter, Shari Ann Freteluco and husband, Tim, of Austin; sons Gregory Alan Kuntschik, Sr., and wife, Misty, of Gonzales, Hal H. Braune, Jr., and wife, Brenda, of Lockhart, and David H. Braune and wife, Terri, of Lockhart; ten grandchildren: Michael Rheinlander, Rale Braune, Greg Kuntschik, Jr., Scott Braune, Joshua Leal, Kevin Kuntschik, JoAnna Leal, Keaton Kuntschik, Stevie Freteluco and Samantha Kuntschik; and three brothers: John, Raymond and Clarence Kuntschik, all of Waco.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Rosemary Keck and Anita Burger, a brother, Melvin Kuntschik, and his first wife, JoAnn Kuntschik.
The family received friends at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home from 5 – 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 3. A Rosary was read at 6 p.m. on Thursday. Funeral services were held at St. James Catholic Church on Friday, July 4, 2008, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Paul Raaz officiating. Burial followed in the St. James Cemetery.
His seven grandsons served as pallbearers.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, or St. James Catholic Church.
