Carolyn Dietz Lay, of Lockhart, passed away on Saturday Jan. 30, 2010, in Austin, to be with her Heavenly Father.

She was born to Henry and Charlotte Speck Dietz in New Braunfels, Texas, on Sept. 23, 1939.

She married Leon Lay on Sept. 1, 1961 in New Braunfels, and they were married for a total of 48 years.

en: sons, Warren Lay and wife, Kim, and Leonard Lay and wife, Laurie, all of Lockhart; and daughter, Susie Lay, also of Lockhart. She had five grandchildren: Jennie, Sara, Logan, Lauren and Luke, all of Lockhart. She is also survived by two brothers, Clifford Dietz and wife, Betty, and Howard Dietzand wife, Sammie, all of New Braunfels. She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Charlotte Dietz.

Carolyn was a licensed hairdresser before devoting her life to her family and children. Her other hobbies included knitting, crocheting, quilting, camping and fishing.

She was an active member in a number of community groups. She participated as a board member of the Lockhart Garden Club, Monthalia United Methodist Church and the Delhi Ladies Group for more than 20 years. Carolyn will be remembered for her outgoing nature.

Graveside services were scheduled at the Luling City Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 3., 2010.
