Clydola “Dot” Powers, loving wife, mother and granny went to Heaven on Aug. 7, 2010.

She was born on Aug. 10, 1935, in San Saba County to Veston and Ollie Hensley Luster. Dot married W.O. “Cowboy” Powers on July 17, 1954, in Monahans, Texas. Together, they embarked on a grand adventure for 56 years, living in such diverse places as San Antonio, San Angelo,

Del Rio, Castroville, Uvalde, Tulia, Lampasas and Burnet. Upon Cowboy’s retirement from the Goodrich Ranch, they moved to McMahan to be near their son and “daughter-in-love.”

Dot enjoyed painting, sewing, bowling, waterskiing and square dancing. She also enjoyed driving around the Sonic Drive-in, in reverse, much to the delight – and chagrin – of her then-teenaged children.

Dot was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Bruce Lee Powers; and her sister, Mary Fangman.

She is survived by her husband and children: Debra Skeen and husband, Chuck, of McAllen; Jack Powers and wife, Dawn, of San Antonio; David Powers and wife, Ronda, of McMahan; and Louan San Miguel, of Hereford, Texas. Dot was also blessed with nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A brother, V.J Luster, also survives her.

The family planned to receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010, at McCurdy Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 13, 2010, in McCurdy Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at the Lockhart Municipal Burial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to The American Diabetes Association.

Arrangements under the care and guidance of McCurdy Funeral Home, 105 E. Pecan St., Lockhart, Texas, 78644. Obituary and guest book online at www.mccurdyfuneralhome.com
