Daniel Loep, 69, of Houston passed away on April 8, 2006. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Olga Loep.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Elizabeth (Liz); his son Wade Loep and wife Mary; daughter Jenny Williams and husband Clay; and grandchildren Brenton, Nick, Hannah, Libby and Sam. He is also survived by his sisters, Nancy Donnell, Jane

Johnson and husband Archie, Janet Voight, Kathy Selstrom and husband David; brothers Laurie Loep, Nathan Loep and wife Billie Anne; sisters-in-law Judy Cardwell and Jenny Meyer and husband Joy.
Dan was born and raised on a cotton farm in Central Texas. After graduating from Lockhart High School in 1954, he attended the University of Texas before moving to Houston in 1960. After retiring from the chemical manufacturing business, Dan opened a nursery following his lifelong passion for gardening.
All who knew Dan will remember his playfulness, great sense of humor and wonderful home-grown tomatoes. Dan became a leader in the Green Industry in Houston and was known as the “Tomato Man” of Houston.
He was active in the Texas Association of Nurserymen and was President of the Houston Landscape Nurserymen”s Association.
Visitation was held on Monday, April 10, 2006 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Woodlawn Funeral Home. Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of the Woodlawn Funeral Home.
