Emergency Management Team plans disaster training

The Department of State Health Services (DSHS) Region 7 charged with protecting the public”s health in an emergency has teamed with the Capital Area Council of Governments (CAPCOG) and contracted the American Red Cross of Central Texas to lead in recruitment efforts to obtain volunteers for a special statewide project called “PROTECT TEXAS” in Caldwell County.

er preparedness training session will be held in Lockhart on Saturday, Sept. 17.
The class, which is being organized by the Caldwell County Emergency Management team, was developed by the National Domestic Preparedness Consortium to provide emergency responders with awareness-level training on recognition, avoidance, isolation and notification techniques in a situation relating to weapons of Mass destruction. The course covers prevention and deterrence in chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive hazards.
The six-hour course will be held in the Glosserman Conference Center at Lockhart City Hall, 208 W. San Antonio Street in Lockhart. Training will begin promptly at 9 a.m. and will continue until 4 p.m.
