Erna Marie Nance

Erna Marie Nance, 82, formerly of Lockhart and Seguin, passed away Sept. 4, 2005. Funeral service was held at Goetz Memorial Chapel in Seguin with the minister Larry Young officiating and interment in Lockhart City Cemetery.
Mrs. Nance was born Sept. 8, 1922, to Herbert Otto and Mamie Anton Otto in Caldwell County, Texas. She attended Seawillow Elementary and graduate

d from Lockhart High School. Erna married Howard Aiken, Sr. and moved to Seguin. Following the death of her husband in 1955, Erna raised her four sons then married Melvin Nance and earned her degree as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. She worked at Guadalupe Valley Hospital in Seguin until her retirement. She was active in the McQueeney Lion”s Club and the Daughters of the Republic of Texas.
Survivors include her sister Dorothy Otto Boggus of Grand Prairie; sons and daughters-in-law Herbert Aiken and wife Kay of League City, Howard Aiken, Jr. and wife Martha of McMahan, Leroy Aiken and wife Carol of San Antonio and David Aiken and wife Sandra of Converse; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
