Faye Saragusa Kirchoff passed away on Dec. 29, 2009, in Lockhart, Texas. She was born in Weches, Texas, to Lee Edgar and Faye Gilbert Smith on July 15, 1932.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Anthony Saragusa; her parents; and her beloved sisters, Natha Lee Smith Tims and Moline Smith Sheffield.

Faye is survived by one sister, Sandra Sue Smith Ho

llingsworth and her husband, Lee Hollingsworth, of Weches; two daughters, Sherry Lynn Saragusa Schaefer and husband, Larry R. Schaefer, of Lockhart, Texas, and Kelly Jo Saragusa McEntee of Austin, Texas; four grandchildren, Jordan Schaefer, of Lockhart, Joshua Schaefer of San Marcos, and Miles McEntee and Taylor Rose McEntee, both of Austin. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

She was lovingly called “Torchy” (for her red hair), Aunt Pete, Aunt Deat, Leafa and, of course, Mom and Mimi.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She put herself through Business School and was a legal secretary for over 30 years in Midland, Texas and Austin. She worked for Stubbeman, McRae, Sealy and Laughlin. The name later changed to Bankston, Wright and Greenhill.

Faye loved to travel all over the world. She went on many cruises with friends. She loved life, family, and friends.

Visitation was held from noon – 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010, at the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. Graveside services followed at 2:30 p.m. at the Cook-Walden/Memorial Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Association in Faye’s memory.
