Ft. Worth man dies in Monday crash
By LPR Staff
A tragic accident on Monday morning claimed the life of a North Texas man living in Lockhart as part of the construction crew on State Highway 130.
Just after 8:15 a.m. on Monday, emergency crews were summoned to the corner of State Park Road and Medina Street in Lockhart to respond to a head-on collision b
etween a mid-sized SUV and a motorcycle. Investigation into the accident showed that the driver of the SUV, who was traveling east on State Park Road, had collided with the westbound motorcycle, driven by Danny Harrison, 39, of Ft. Worth.
Witnesses at the scene speculated the driver of the SUV, identified as Michelle Knudsen, of Lockhart, was planning to turn left onto Medina Street, and misjudged both the speed of the motorcycle and its distance from the intersection, striking it head-on when crossing into the westbound lane to make the turn.
Harrison, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from the motorcycle and suffered severe injuries. He was taken from the scene and transported via ambulance to Austin Brackenridge Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Described by his friends as a vibrant and fun-loving man and a caring husband and father, Harrison has been in the Lockhart area for more than a year. He worked with T.J. Lambrecht Construction, which has been instrumental in the construction of State Highway 130.
He is said to have borrowed the motorcycle from a relative for a “test drive,” and was considering purchasing one of his own.
Harrison leaves a wife and daughter, as well as a host of family, friends and coworkers.
Police are still investigating the crash, but the initial reports have revealed no mitigating factors; they are calling the accident just that, “a horrible, tragic accident.”
