Genivieve was born on August 27,, 1937 in Lockhart Texas to James & Zula Taylor.
Life on the farm was hard work but having a precious mom and an adventurous brother Roy Taylor made it bearable. At the age of 16 she decided to leave the farm in pursuit of a new life, so she boarded a bus on Hwy 183 with the help of her mother. The bus whisked away this country girl with all her new ideas and plans, to live with her sister Mildred in Austin Texas.
While living with Mildred she met a young man just back from the Korean conflict named Bobby Ormand and after a long, long, courtship of 30 days, they were joined in marriage by the Justice of peace on September 30, 1954. Many said it would never last but this strong country girl never wavered and 63 years of marriage later one may say it lasted.
Genivieve (Genny) loved life and was the spice of their home and it didn’t matter if she was cleaning the house, making peach preserves or beating some neighborhood teenage boy at arm wrestling she always made it fun. She was the mother of 3 boys, Rob, Allen and Bruce and life with her was always adventurous. She had a saying to her children and grandchildren (It’s going to be a Blue Bird Day) and that meant all is well. She truly loved her children and grandchildren and appreciated the simple things in life.
She loved the Lord with all her heart and served in many capacities from cleaning the church, teaching or church secretary. In 1973 she felt the call to be a minister and without any hesitation she set her sights on preaching the Gospel. Genivieve and Bobby pastored several churches in Central Texas and she loved being about God’s work. Genivieve or Sister Ormand as many called her, was always more than a pastor. She was a friend, confidant and anything else she thought people needed her to be.
Genivieve is survived by her husband Bobby Ormand and two sons Rob Ormand and Sara Patuel and Bruce Ormand and wife Donna. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren with 1 more on the way.
