Henry O. Foster, of Prairie Lea, Texas, passed away on Nov. 3, 2012, at the age of 88. He was born on Sept.16, 1924, in Bienville Parish – Castor, La., to Albert Acia and Maude Ellen Foster.

Henry joined Civil Conservations Corps in 1942 and he hauled logs in Louisiana and Arkansas.  Henry married Jo Beth Wolf on May 5, 1945 and they were married 57 years until she passed a

way on May 26, 2002.  This union was blessed with seven sons.

After the death of his first wife he married Lucy Wendt Foster. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII, after discharge of the Army he joined the National Guard. Before he went into the Army he was working for Mobil Oil and after his discharge he continued to work for the same company for 43 years. During the time that he was working he served in Boy Scouts of America from 1960 to 1976. While there he earned the Beaver Award in 1974, the highest award you are able to get in Scouting. All seven sons are also Eagle Scouts.

He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Jo Beth Wolf; five brothers; three sisters; and two great-grandsons, Miles and Nathaniel.

He is survived by his wife, Lucy; seven sons: Mike Foster and wife, Trish, of Stevensville, Mon., Tim Foster and wife, Judy, of Clute, Texas, Wayne Foster and wife, Kathy, of West Columbia, Texas, Jerry Foster and wife, Dale, of Angleton, Texas, George Foster, of Houston, Joe Foster and wife, Teresa, of Lake Jackson, Texas, and Pat Foster and wife, Tammy, of Danbury, Texas; 12 grandchildren and thirteen great-great grandchildren.

Family received friends at McCurdy Funeral Home, from 6 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at First Lockhart Baptist Church in Lockhart, with Rev. Gary Rodgers and Joel Densman officiating.  Interment followed at Woodman of the World in Prairie Lea.
