James Winston Powell, 80, of Lockhart, passed away on March 25, 2008 in Austin, Texas. He was born to Daniel Turner Powell, Sr., and Jennie Mae (Davis) Powell in Luling on Aug. 17, 1927.
He married Roxie Margaret Clark on June 21, 1998, at the First Lockhart Methodist Church in Lockhart.
During his life, Mr. Powell was a member of the Hardeman Masonic Lodge and t

he Oil City A and Classic Car Club. He served his country in the Merchant Marine and the Army National Guard, and was a truck driver for Johnson Oil.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Daniel Powell.
Mr. Powell leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Roxie Powell of Lockhart; daughter, Suzanne Gaddis and husband, Kerry, of Lockhart; sons, James George Powell and wife, Ginger, Christian Turner Powell and wife, Gilmary, both of Luling, Jack Ross and wife Kathy of San Antonio, and Clark Ross and wife, Julie, of Austin; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Annunciation in Luling, Texas, on Friday, March 28 at 10 a.m., with Rev. Russel Matthews officiating. Burial will follow in the Luling City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jack Ross, Clark Ross, Christian Powell, Aron Powell, Seth Powell and Josh Powell. Honorary pallbearers are Charles Bullock and the member of the Oil City A and Classic Car Club.
