Jeanette Carolyn Whitmore Fish, 86, of Lockhart, formerly of Galveston, died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012 at her residence in Lockhart. Services were held on Jan. 9, 2012 in Galveston, Texas.

Jeanette was born Jan. 2, 1926, in Roanoke, Va., to Mary Agusta and Walter Dever Whitmore. She moved to Galveston, Texas, in 1935 and graduated from Ball High School in 1944. She married her

high school sweetheart, Bertram Warren Fish, on Dec. 18, 1944, in Galveston at the First Baptist Church. She remained living in Galveston until she and her husband, Bert, moved to Lockhart in 1995.

She was a homemaker all of her married life, and devoted herself to her husband, children and family. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Galveston. She was active in gardening, and worked with the Cub Scouts and PTA when her children were young.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her husband of 66 years, Bertram Warren Fish; two brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include three sons: James Warren Fish and wife, Therese, Jerry Wayne Fish, and David Walter Fish and wife, Amy; one daughter, Kathryn Fish Ovalle; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Frank Ovalle Jr., Richard Ovalle, Vince Kern, Christopher Fish, Marcus Ovalle and William Groves.

The family wishes to express a special thank you to her Hospice nurses, Julia Eaton and Maria Uballe as well as the entire staff of Odyssey Hospice of San Marcos. Also, a special thank you goes to her devoted friends and neighbors, William and Margaret Groves and Sherri Cable.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Odyssey Hospice, 1911 Corporate Drive, Ste. 104, San Marcos, Texas 78666.
