Jeanne Efird, 68, passed away peacefully in Austin, Texas on Jan. 23, 2013. She was born Doris Jeanne Markos in Austin, Texas, on March 8, 1944, to Doris Dell (Pierce) and Robert Gerald Markos. Jeanne grew up in Bishop, Texas, and graduated from Bishop High School in 1962.

an Marcos until she married Jesse Efird, of Lockhart, on May 31, 1963.

Jeanne held various occupations throughout the years. Her most fulfilling positions were when she was working with disabled children and adults with Bluebonnet Trails and the Department of MHMR in Lockhart.

Jeanne was preceded in death by both parents and her step-father, Elmer A. Wilkerson. She is survived by her husband, Jesse, of Luling, Texas; daughters, Debra Jene’ Efird, of Corpus Christi, and Deann Efird Ries and her husband, Lee, of Copperas Cove; one brother, Robert Markos and his wife, Sue, of Brenham; grandchildren, Christopher Alexander Ries, of Shreveport, La., Ashlee Deann Dugan and her husband, Ryan, of Killeen, and Andrea J. Efird, of Corpus Christi. She is also survived by many nephews and nieces, including Cindy Mitchell of Lockhart.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at the McNeil Baptist Church in Luling, Texas. All arrangement will be with Eeds Funeral Home, 408 S. Main St., Lockhart, Texas 78644.
