Jesse Lewis Freeman, Jr., 80, of Lockhart, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, in Lockhart. He was born on Oct. 3, 1929, to Jesse Lewis, Sr. and Linnie Mae (Ramsey) Freeman in Katy, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother and sister-in-law, Harold Lee Freeman and Lynell Lott.

Lewis is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Ada Fran

ces Seitter; sons: William Tod Freeman and wife, Karen Moore, and Troy Andrew Freeman. He was also blessed to have two grandsons, William Alexander Freeman and Logan Ryan Freeman.

Lewis was a well-educated man who graduated from Katy High School in 1948. He later attended University of Texas, University of Houston and Baylor University. He graduated from Baylor with degrees in Psychology and History, as well getting his master’s degree in Divinity in 1961 from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Lewis was a man who loved to travel. He traveled to Portugal, Greece, Egypt, Italy, England, Germany, Switzerland, France, Scotland, Lebanon, Syria, Israel, Jordan, Mexico, Brazil, Venezuela, Trinidad, China and Japan.

He was a member of the Baylor Alumni Association, McMahan Baptist Church, Texas Pecan Growers Association, American Angus Association, Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, a past member of the Lockhart ISD School Board, and Board of Directors of the Luling Foundation Farm.

Lewis had a passion in reading and studying the Bible. He also wrote “When it Just Had To Be There,” which was published in 2004.

A memorial service was conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010 at First United Methodist Church in Lockhart with Pastor Robert Horton officiating.
