Jim Masur, 80, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away Monday, Dec. 3, 2007. He was born Oct. 8, 1927 in Lockhart, Texas to Ernest Peter and Elizabeth Blanch Masur. Jim graduated from Lockhart High School in 1944, joined the U.S. Navy in 1946 and moved to Corpus Christi in 1949 when he went to work for CP&L, retiring after 38 years of service. He married Shurley Anderson

on Sept. 22, 1951.
He was a past president of the Lions Club, organized the Run-in JM 4-H Club, was a past president of the South Texas Trail Riders, trail boss of the Saltwater Trail Ride, past president of the Nueces County Sheriff”s Possee, Trustee of the Annaville Volunteer Fire Department, Board of Trustees of the Nueces County Show Barn, Past President of the Nueces County Youth Rodeo Association and member of St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church.
Jim “traveled from Cape Cod to the Pecos, two goat ropings, a barn raising, a wind mill greasing and Padre Island.”
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Shurley Masur; his children, Elaine (Mike) Pittman and Jim (Gail) Masur; his brother, Robert “Bob” Masur; and his granddaughter, Kaitlyn Pittman.
Visitation was held from 1 – 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007 in Sawyer-George Funeral Home.
The Rosary was to be recited at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007 in St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church.
The Funeral Mass was scheduled to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007 in St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. Morgan Rowsome as celebrant. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Watkins, Ronnie King, Mike Landino, Royce Cameron, Mike Clack, Kyle Luckenbach, L. D. “Charlie” Watkins, Buck Delano, Richard Byrne and Jeremy Berry.
Honorary Pallbearers will all be members of the Annaville Volunteer Fire Department.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Run-in JM 4-H Club, 10709 Timbergrove Lane, Corpus Christi, TX 78410.
