Jimmy “Clyde” Wallace

Clyde, as he was called by those who knew him, was born in San Antonio, Texas, on April 12, 1934. He was the middle child among seven born to William Alexander Wallace and Eva Lena Luckey. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Leona Williams, Betty Jo La Brie and Frank Wallace.

Clyde is survived by his wife of 53 years, Glenna Rose Wallace; his son, Jimmy Cyl

e Wallace, and daughter, Carrie Lynn Perry; sisters, Helen Martin and Joyce Polloc; and brother, Billy “Buddy” Wallace.

“Papa” was the name given to him by his nine adoring grandchildren: Ethan William Perry, Sarah Rose Perry, Davis Lane Perry, Elyssa Cyle Wallace, Logan Alexander Wallace, Morgan Wade Wallace, Louie Guajardo, Andy Wallace, Charlie Wallace and Jarrod Cyle Wallace as well as many nieces and nephews.

Clyde returned to San Antonio after serving four years in the Navy and met the love of his life, Glenna Rose, and they were married on Aug. 15, 1958. He went to work for the City Water Board in February 1957 and retired 35 years later in August 1992. He and his wife soon after moved to Elm Grove where they built their dream home and lived out their aspirations of living in the country.

Clyde loved life and enjoyed every minute of spending time with his family and caring for his gardens, cows, chickens and sometimes, horses. His generous and jovial nature made him numerous friends who all loved him dearly.

Clyde went Home to be with the Lord on Dec. 8, 2011, and will be missed by everyone who knew him. His greatest hope is for all of us to be together again in heaven for the ultimate family reunion that lasts an eternity.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, at McCurdy Funeral Home, with his nephew, Donnie Dean officiating. Interment followed at Thompsonville Cemetery.
