John D. (Pat) Patton, Jr., of Lockhart passed away on Aug. 24, 2005. He was born in McNeil, Texas, on April 11, 1914, to Johnnie Dorn Patton and Carnelia Myrtle Letbetter Patton.
John was the owner of Patton’s Cabinet Shop and served in the Navy during WWII. He was very active in politics, serving as Democratic County Chairman for 40 years, and was the first Presiden

t of the Texas Democratic County Chairman’s Association. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, VFW and American Legion.
John married Theresa Lona Lawler on Aug. 7, 1936, and they were married for 68 years.
He is survived by his daughters and son-in-laws Nan Carnagey, Penny and Tom Alexander, Johnnie Sue and James Schwerdtfeger; his grandchildren Glenn Alan Carnagey, John Carnagey, Theresa Alexander, Lalon Alexander, James Schwerdtfeger, Jr. and Patricia Schwerdtfeger; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
His wife, parents and his brother, Willis L. Patton, preceded him in death.
The family received friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 26, 2005 at McCurdy Funeral Home.
The funeral service was held at 1 p.m. at McCurdy Funeral Home in Lockhart on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.
