Jose D. Ancira, Sr.

Mr. Jose D. Ancira, Sr., 100, passed away on Sept. 15, 2008. He was born on March 4, 1908.

Mr. Ancira was preceded in death by his eldest daughter, Juanita Perez.

He is survived by his wife, Eva H. Ancira; daughters: Maria Mendoza (Jose M.), Antonia Hernandez (Rosario), Nellie Sanchez (Lupe), Rachael Mendoza (Joe L.), Carmen Ancira, Sylvia Pickrell (Mike) and

Rebecca Castillo (Jerry); sons: Jose Ancira, Jr. (Elida), Alberto Ancira (Mary), Guadalupe Ancira (Bill Duke), Jimmy Ancira (Selma) and Tommy Ancira (Lisa); sister, Maria Castilleja; brothers, Benito Ancira and Victor Ancira; 25 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren; and seven step-grandchildren.

Recitation of the rosary was at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008, at the DeLeon Funeral Home. Funeral mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
