Juan D. Patlan, Sr., 65, of Maxwell, Texas, returned to his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, Dec. 8 at Seton Medical Center Hays, surrounded by his family.

Juan was born in Maxwell, Texas, on April 18, 1950, to the late Victoriano and Dominga (DeLeon) Patlan. He served his country honorably in the United States Army, serving in Vietnam.

e of 41 years, Gloria Ochoa Patlan; son, Juan Patlan, Jr., of Maxwell; Adam Patlan, of Maxwell; son, Randy Patlan, of Maxwell; son, Edward Patlan, of San Marcos; daughter, Gracie Patlan, of San Marcos; grandchildren: Starlah R. Patlan, Chelsea C. Patlan, Trey A. Patlan, Mark A. Patlan and Issac J. Patlan; sisters: Santos DeLeon, Carolina Patlan, Anita Patlan, Mary Patlan and Adelina Patlan; and brothers: Ramon Patlan, Anselmo Patlan, Joe Patlan, Victor Patlan and Bobby Patlan.

Family and friends were invited to attend visitation and celebrate the life of Mr. Patlan on Thursday, Dec. 10, and Friday, Dec. 11, from 4 – 9 p.m. at the Thomason Funeral Home in San Marcos. A recitation of the Holy Rosary began at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 11. A funeral mass was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Martindale, Texas with Rev. Fr. Adam Martinez as the celebrant. Interment with military honors followed at Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Martindale.
