On Saturday morning, Feb. 25, the Lady Lion soccer team traveled to take on the Wimberley Lady Texans.
Despite rain showers during pre-game warm-up, the weather conditions improved for the game.
The Lady Lions controlled the pace of the game and kept constant offensive pressure on the Lady Texans. The pressure paid off when the Lady Lions netted the first goal of the game. Junior Ashley Simon put the ball into the net off of a penalty kick to grab a 1-0 lead.
Lockhart maintained this advantage until late in the first half when Wimberley scored the equalizing goal off of a breakaway.
The Lady Lions fought to gain back the advantage with a flurry of shots in the waning minutes of the game, but were unable to score. With the tie, the Lady Lions are 3-5-2 in district, with their next home game scheduled for Friday, March 10, against Lake Travis. Game time is set for 6 p.m. at Lion Stadium.
