Lady Lion soccer struggles with district opponents

The Lockhart Lady Lion soccer team traveled to Cedar Park to take on Vista Ridge Tuesday, Feb. 14.
Vista Ridge scored early to take a 1-0 advantage. The Lady Lions played tough defense to keep the score to 1-0 at halftime.
In the second half, the Lions kept up the pressure but were unable to net a goal.

The Lady Lions received outstanding performances by sophomore Kara Casteel and junior Ashley Simon.
On Friday, Feb. 17, the Lady Lions began the second round of district play by traveling to Marble Falls.
Lockhart scored the first goal of the match courtesy of senior Krystal Laws. Marble Falls scored two goals before the first half expired to bring the halftime score to 2-1.
The Lady Lions fought back as sophomore Lindy Chamberlain netted the equalizing goal.
With six minutes left in the game, Marble Falls put the final goal in the net to win 3-2.
“This game was a highly contested match, played with grit and determination,” Coach Tim Bayliss said.
Senior Christine Amaya and sophomore Bri Hinnenkamp turned in outstanding performances.
The Lady Lions are 2-5-1 in district play, and will resume play at home Thursday night, Feb. 23, at 6 p.m. against Del Valle.
