Varsity
The Lady Lion softball team and the Hays Lady Rebels faced off Friday, Feb. 18, at home. Through four innings the score was in our favor, 1-0, despite missing three of their starters.
In the fifth inning, the Lady Lions had four costly errors and Hays scored eight runs. The final score was 3-10.
The Lady Lions also participated in the Hutto Tourname

nt this weekend, Feb. 17-19, and brought home the second place trophy. The Lady Lions beat Hutto 4-3 and Canyon Creek, 9-1. Lockhart had four in the park homeruns from Lee Smith, Noelle Marquina, Bobbi Schulle and Whitney Wendt. The Lady Lions were scheduled to play Burnet for the Championship game, but, due to rain, the tournament was called off before they got to play. Lockhart was awarded the second place trophy because they had allowed four runs that morning and Burnet had allowed less.

Junior Varsity
The Lady Lion JV softball team won their first game of the season, defeating the Hippos from Hutto 8-3. Lockhart got out to a rocky start allowing 3 runs to cross the plate in the first inning. Lockhart would then string some hits together and rally to score 1 run in the third, 6 in the fourth, and 1 in the fifth. Big hitters for the Lions were Jaimie Ruiz who was 1-2 with a double and Shelly Castro who went 2-3. Other singles came from Erika Levario, Zaida Hager, Naomi Oliva, and Amanda Oliva. The winning pitcher was Shelly Castro who allowed no runs, and struck out 4 batters.
