The Lady Lions continue to face unresolved problems on the courts. All three Lady Lion teams have been dealt some devastating losses this season and the latest scores are clear evidence of continuing problems with the teams.
The Lady Lions hosted the Del Valle Lady Cardinals on Friday, Jan 18, and all three Lady Lion teams sen

t Del Valle home with outstanding wins.
The Varsity Lady Lions lost 75-36. The Junior Varsity team fell 48-33 and the Freshman team lost 48-6.
The Varsity Lady Lions were at a 13-point deficit by the end of the first quarter, which ended at 23-10. The Lady Lions could not keep the ball out of the Lady Cardinals’ hands, and when they did get the ball, they could not connect with the bucket.
Scoring for the Lady Lions in the first quarter were Amanda Alvarez with a three-pointer and a free throw, Alisha Officer with a two-pointer and a free throw, Shelby Henrichs with a two-pointer and Desi Winn with a free throw.
The second quarter was almost like the first. The Lady Cardinals scored another 20 points and the Lady Lions picked up only eight, ending the scoring at 43-18 at the half.
Scoring in the second quarter came from Officer and Mariah Carter who scored four points each.
Something happened to both teams during the halftime break. Each of them could only come up with half of what they had scored in the first quarter during the third. Del Valle scored 11 points while Lockhart came up with five. The third ended at 54-23.
Four of the five points were from Carter who scored a pair of two-pointers. Kaela Amirkabirian made a free throw.
The fourth quarter was the best quarter for the Lady Lions, who scored a total of 13 points. Unfortunately, it was the second-best quarter for the Lady Cardinals with 21 points for a final score of 75-36.
Scoring for the Lions in the fourth were Tory Hill with two three-pointers, Carter with three free throws and Officer and Henrichs each with a two-pointer.
JV Girls
The Junior Varsity Lady Lions lost their game in the first quarter. The Lady Cardinals exploded onto the court and pecked Lockhart into submission, scoring 18 points while allowing only two from the tired Lady Lions ending the scoring at 18-2.
The single two-pointer came from Andrea McKinney.
After their initial intimidation blitz and a 16-point lead, the Lady Cardinals found it in their hearts to relax a little. The second quarter was much more even, with Lockhart scoring eight points and Del Valle nine, just to keep the lead.
Scoring for the Lady Lions were McKinney with a three-pointer, Shelby Kennedy with three free throws and Jesi Greer with a two-pointer.
After the halftime break the Lady Lions lost their momentum and went down in their scoring. They scored five points while Del Valle added another 11 to their score for a third quarter score of 38-15.
Scoring in the third for the Lions were Cortney Ferris and Victoria Aguilar each with a two-pointer and Kennedy with a free throw.
The fourth quarter was the best quarter for the Lady Lions who found the basket for a total of 18 points while the Lady Cardinals, feeling secure with their lead, scored only 10 additional points for a final score of 48-33.
Aguilar scored 11 of the 18 points in the fourth leaving the rest to Greer who scored three with a two-pointer and a free throw, McKinney with a two-pointer and Shavonda Hill with a two pointer.

Freshman Girls
The Freshman Lady Lions had the hardest time getting their bearings after the Del Valle team completely took over the entire first half of the game. Lockhart remained scoreless until the third quarter while, Del Valle scored 11 points in the first quarter and 18 in the second.
Del Valle was gracious enough to slow down during the second half of the game. They scored nine points in the third and 10 in the fourth. Lockhart’s Gwen Sanders scored a two-pointer in the third and Karla Stovall scored a pair of two-pointers in the fourth for a total of six points in the entire game. The game ended at 48-6.
The Lady Lions played against the Hays Lady Rebels on Tuesday, Jan. 22 and will travel to New Braunfels to play against the Canyon Cougarettes on Friday, Jan. 25. Please check next week’s Post-Register for highlights and scores.
