Lady Lions head to Austin for playoff game

The Lady Lion Varsity Soccer team has been ripping its way through district play over the past month. The Lady Lions finished district play in third place with a 10-5-0 record, claiming victory in five out of the last six games and scoring 31 goals for while only giving up 19 in district play. t place Hays, in which the visitors from Hays were held scoreless until the last nine minutes of the match.
The Lady Lions responded by winning three games over four days. Last Friday night they claimed a 3-1 victory over Pflugerville Connally. Saturday morning, the Lady Lions traveled to beat Del Valle 1-0, putting them in a tie with Pflugerville Connally for the third and final playoff spot. This meant a rematch with the Cougars from Pflugerville Connally. The two teams battled it out on Monday night with the Lady Lions topping the Cougars 1-0 to claim third place in district and the final playoff spot. The Lady Lions will battle old district foe Lake Travis in the first round of the playoffs at the Toney Burger Center in Austin this Friday night at 7 p.m. or 8 p.m.

The Lady Lion Varsity Soccer team consists of seniors Ashley Simon (captain), Casey Staulbaum (captain), Isabella Saldana, Kathryn Coster, Kelcie Wooten; Juniors Brianna Hinnenkamp (captain), Kara Casteel (captain), Lindy Chamberlain, Erica West, Sophomores Meredith Moore, Heather Schulle, Sylvia Stover, Julia Boykin, Freshmen Jovanna Gonzalez, Megan Corbitt, and Christina Knudsen.
