Larry Ray Schaefer, 66, died Monday, April 27, 2015, at his residence in Lockhart.
He was born Sept. 30, 1948, in Lockhart, the son of the late Nolan Schaefer and Wanda (Borchert) Schaefer. He graduated from Lockhart High School in the Class of 1967 and received his bachelor’s degree from Southwest Texas University in 1971. Larry married Sherry (Saragusa) Schaefer in Lockhar

t on March 5, 1983.
Larry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who loved spending time with his family. He also loved to participate in his local coffee club and poker club with his friends of many years. Larry was an avid sports fan and often seen supporting his favorite team, the Texas A&M Aggies.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry Schaefer, of Lockhart; his sons, Jordan (Danielle) Schaefer, of Marble Falls, Texas, and Joshua Schaefer, of San Marcos, Texas; three grandchildren, Kendall, Addisyn and Paisley of Marble Falls, Texas. He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy (Kirby) Moore.
Services will be held at McCurdy Funeral Home, 105 E. Pecan St. in Lockhart.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 30, 2015 from 5 – 7 p.m. and the funeral service will be on Friday May 1, 2015, at 10 a.m., with Reverend Don Duvall officiating.
At the request of the family anyone wishing to make an expression of sympathy: in lieu of flowers please make a gift to the American Heart Association.

    My condolences to Larry’s family. I knew Larry as a nice,friendly postman always with a nice smile and a friendly hello. I know his family will have wonderful memories.

    Sherry and family, I am so sorry to learn of Larry’s death via online newspaper. I remember his serving at the Maxwell post office and you working at the Jr. High. God bless you as you mourn his loss.
