Leon Eugene Franks, Jr, 32, of Lockhart, Texas passed away on Aug, 12, 2015. He was born on Oct. 19, 1982, in Austin, Texas to Leon Eugene Franks, Sr., and Jennifer Kalinosky.

Leon was raised in Dale, Texas and attended school in Lockhart from kindergarten through 12th grade and went on to attend Texas State University. Leon received numerous achievements in school. He was a

pivotal member of the football team and earned numerous medals in track and awards in power lifting.

Leon met the love of his life, Diane, his senior year of high school and they were married on Aug. 3, 2002. This union brought to Leon the most important people in his life, his daughters, Madison Shay Franks and Mackenzie Reagan Franks. They were his world, and he, in turn, was theirs.

Leon worked in the drywall and painting construction business and formed a business with his father, Franks Drywall. Leon was very, very good at his craft. A few of the many, many projects he accomplished is that he renovated the interior of their home, built a new fence, and a deck in the back yard where he, Diane and the girls enjoyed many wonderful times.

Leon was well known in the Lockhart community. Madison and Mackenzie said that each time they went to the store at least one person would stop them and talk to Daddy for “a long time.” Leon was a kind, loving, compassionate and giving man. He would help anyone in need and expected nothing in return.

Leon was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend and will be deeply missed by all.

He is survived by his parents; his wife, Diane Duvall Franks; two daughters, Madison and Mackenzie Franks; three sisters, Ashley Franks, Bree Bunton, and Jeannine (Krueger) Flix; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Julie and Gibb Duvall; brother-in-law, Cory Duvall; and sister-in-law, Crystal Duvall.

A memorial service was held at 4 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 16, 2015, at First United Methodist Church in Lockhart with Rev. Don Duvall and Rev. Abraham Franks officiating.

Arrangements under the care and guidance of McCurdy Funeral Home, 105 E. Pecan, Lockhart, Texas 78644, (512) 398-4791.

Leon was an amazing young man. He was and always will be a part of my family. I met him his freshman year; he was my student and my son’s friend. I know that John’s heart will never be the same. Diane, we pray peace for you – knowing that Leon is with the Lord now – and you shall see him again one day. To you, Leon, we love you dearly, and will always be thankful for the time we had with you.
