Leona Charlotte Kenney went to be with the Lord on Aug. 28, 2014.  She was born in Fashing, Texas on July 13, 1930.

Leona is preceded in death by her husband, William H. Kenney; her parents, Hubert and Elizabeth Henke; brother, Hubert F. Henke; sister, Margaret Jarzombek; son-in-law, Robert Dembowski; and grandson, Brandon Kenney.

Leona is survived by her daughter, Denis

e Dembowski, son, Ernest Kenney and wife, Kathy, son, Patrick Kenney and wife, Frieda Jones, daughter, Patricia Kenney and husband, Frank Tello, daughter, Amy Kenney and partner, Oscar Rojas, and son, Wayne Kenney and wife, Mary; sister, Irene Bodden; and brother, Alvin Henke and wife, Mary Ann. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Shane, Jamie, Ben, Andrew, Lauren, Ashlee, Cameron, Dylan and Thomas, five great-grandchildren and other loving family members.

Her love of God, family and her Catholic faith were at the forefront of her life.  Her career was bookkeeping but her main purpose in life was raising her children.  Hobbies included cooking, baking, dancing, playing dominoes and caring for her parakeets.  After retiring, Leona spent her time volunteering at the Lockhart Senior Activity Center.

A visitation from 5 – 7 p.m. rosary vigil service was held at McCurdy Funeral Home in Lockhart, on Sept. 1, 2014.  A funeral mass was held at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Lockhart, Texas on Sept. 2, 2014 at 11 a.m. with interment at Polonia Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Lockhart Senior Activity Center.

    Ernest, my condolences to you and your family. After losing my father 2 months ago, I know the importance of those wonderful stories and memories that will surely help you all through this difficult time.
