To the Editor:

We hope everyone has noticed the burn ban in effect signs on our highways in Caldwell County.

The Caldwell County Fire Chiefs Association (CCFCA) was successful in working with the Caldwell County Commissioners’ Court to purchase these signs to be placed throughout Caldwell County. The CCFCA is very excited about these signs, they will be down when the bu

rn ban is in effect and when the ban is lifted the fire departments will close the signs, etc.

It is very difficult for the fire departments in Caldwell County to ensure the residents understand when a burn ban is on or off so we are hopeful these signs will help.

The fire departments would also like all the smokers to be kind by not throwing your cigarettes out the window. The grass is very dry and cigarettes are one of the top causes for roadside fires. It is also very important for you to remember when you are mowing grass or fields to be careful for rocks that will ignite the dry grass.

The CCFCA meets the second Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. at the Scott Annex Building, and the public is welcome.

If you are going to burn, please call (512) 398-6747 to see if it is allowed.
