To the Editor:

First of all, I’d like to start by thanking you for publishing the series profiling Domestic Violence Awareness in your recent editions. It is of utmost importance to bring public attention to this important issue and we appreciate the focus for your local readers.

We would also like your readers to know about a local resource th

at is available to them in their very own community. Hays-Caldwell Women’s Center has been serving victims of family violence, sexual assault and child abuse from Caldwell County since 1978. Last year, we provided face-to-face services to 1,766 abuse victims and of those, 263 were from Caldwell County with 105 from the Lockhart community. We even have an outreach office located in Lockhart. HCWC offers 24-hour shelter, counseling, legal and personal advocacy, children’s counseling, 24-hour hospital response and among other services. Our 24 hour HELPline is 512-396-HELP (4357).

We would like to invite your readers to find out more about HCWC services and learn ways to get involved or to donate by visiting our website at www.hcwc.org or by calling (512)396-3404.

Thank you for your attention,

Marla R. Johnson

HCWC Executive Director
