Mayde Elizabeth McGinty died suddenly on April 23, 2015, while vacationing in Ireland.
She was born in Bonham, Texas in 1940 and grew up in Crockett, Texas, where she graduated from Crockett High School. She received her bachelor’s degree from Texas Christian University in 1962 and began a career in teaching and coaching sports in the Austin area. She went on to earn a ma

ster’s degree in education from Southwest Texas State University in 1986.
Liz was a longtime resident of the Lockhart community, where she worked tirelessly through the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Habitat for Humanity, and the Texas Democratic Party. Liz was selfless, caring, and energetic. These qualities were combined with her idealism and pragmatism to achieve tangible benefits for her community. Everyone who knew her is mourning her loss.
She is survived by her sister Sarah Pat McGinty Moore and three generations of nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held June 13 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Lockhart.
