Caldwell County Sheriff Daniel Law announced last week that a one-month narcotic trafficking investigation in Lockhart resulted in the arrest of one Caldwell County resident and the seizure of approximately one pound of cocaine after law enforcement officers executed a narcotics search warrant issued by 421st District Judge Todd Blomerth.

“The street value of the

narcotics seized is over $50,000,” Law said. Officers recovered a digital scale and small 1” x 1” plastic baggies during the execution of the search warrant.

On Sept.16, 2008, at approximately 6 p.m., a 35-year-old male, a repeat offender with 19 previous arrests, was arrested by the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office and the Chisholm Trail Special Crimes Unit in the 1800 block of South Colorado St., in Lockhart. He was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance over 400 grams, a 1st degree felony. Bond was set at $100,000 cash.

“The arrest of this individual underscores the continuing efforts of the Sheriff’s Office, the Special Crimes Unit, and local law enforcement to remove drug offenders from our community,” Law said. “This was the third narcotics search warrant executed by the Sheriff’s Office in recent weeks where large amounts of illegal narcotics were seized.”

The investigation is still on-going and more arrests may follow. The Caldwell County District Attorney’s Office also assisted in the investigation.
