In connection with the annual Warriors’ Weekend, several busloads of recovering wounded soldiers will be visiting Lockhart on Friday morning.
On their way to an all-expense-paid fishing trip in Port O’Connor, what is estimated as three busloads of wounded American veterans will be passing through Lockhart

between 10:30 and 11:15 a.m. on Friday. They will be traveling SH130/Highway 183 from Killeen, before passing through to Luling on their way to Port O’Connor. Their itinerary includes a brief stop at Kreuz’s Market, expected between 10:45 and 11 a.m.

Officers from the Lockhart Police Department and Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office will be participating in an escort for the soldiers, and the community is invited stand by the side of the highway with flags, signs of support and other mementos to show support and appreciation for the men and women who have put themselves in harm’s way to defend American ideals across the world.

Though the current itinerary shows arrival in Lockhart at around 10:50 a.m., past trips have run early, and event organizers have asked that the community gather, whether by the roadsides or in the parking lot at Kreuz’s Market, by 10:30 a.m. to ensure they are on hand for the welcome.

The Warriors’ Weekend fishing trip is sponsored by Warrior’s Weekend (www.warriorsweekend.org) and is designed to build morale and support for servicemembers injured in the line of duty.
