During a brief meeting on Monday morning, the Caldwell County Commissioners Court decided to reinstate an outdoor burning ban for the county.
Despite the arrival of autumn and the cooler temperatures that come with it, the danger of wildfire is still high because of the dry, hot summer, a fact that was proven on Friday wh

en grass fire burned upwards of 30 acres in central Caldwell County.
In other Court business, the Commissioners heard a report on tax collection from the Caldwell County Appraisal District.
As of Sept. 30, 2005, the appraisal district has collected over $6.5 million, around 94 percent of the total 2004 tax levy. This rate of collection shows an increase from prior years, where less than 93 percent of taxes due and owing had been collected by late-September.
In brief Court business:
The Commissioners approved the lease of a radar unit for the Precinct One Constable”s office.
The county paid bills in the amount of $87,017.34.
