An expanded timeline and new events will inject new life into the 37th Annual Chisholm Trail Roundup beginning on Sunday, turning the three-day festival into a weeklong celebration of the marriage of history and modern entertainment.

According to Lockhart Chamber of Commerce President Wayne Bock, the Chamber decided to

introduce a golf tournament and add another day of carnival entertainment to draw yet more visitors to the annual Chisholm Trail Roundup Barbecue and Music Festival.

The Chisholm Cup Golf Tournament will be the official opening of a week of CTR activities, kicking off the celebration on Sunday.

“Please join us at Quail Creek Country Club in San Marcos for a 1 p.m. shotgun start,” Bock said. Prior to tee off, several contests, including a putting challenge and a “Happy Gilmore Driving Contest” will allow golfers to showcase their skills on an individual level.
To register for the Chisholm Cup Golf Tournament, contact the Lockhart Chamber of Commerce at (512) 398-2818 or visit the website at www.chisholmtrailroundup.com/golftourmament.htm.
On Wednesday morning, take a trip back in time at the annual Cowboy Breakfast on the Courthouse Square.

From 6:30 – 9 a.m., enjoy an old-fashioned breakfast cooked over an open flame and served from a covered wagon. Picnic tables will be set up so visitors can enjoy their meal outdoors before beginning their workday.

For the first time this year, vendor booths and the CTR Carnival will be open on Wednesday evening from 5 p.m. – midnight. Bock said that special “early bird” discounts will be available for families who choose to enjoy shopping and carnival games and rides on Wednesday.

Registration is also available for the third annual Lockhart Kiwanis Chisholm Trail Roundup 5K Stampede.

The footrace will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, giving runners plenty of time to exercise and compete before heading to the Square for the Grand Parade at 10:30 a.m. To register online for the race, visit www.signmeup.com.
