Saturday, June 2 marked the beginning of a full week of down-home fun leading up to the annual Chisholm Trail Roundup Barbecue and Music Festival in City Park June 7-10.
On Saturday morning, June 2, the Plum Creek Casters invite area youth age 16 and under to participate in the annual Kids’ Catfish Roundup. The Roundup will be held from 8:30 a.m. – noon at the City P

ark Pond. Registration for the event is free, and rods, reels and bait will be provided for children who want to participate, but may not have access to appropriate equipment.
On Monday, the Lockhart Chamber of Commerce, GBRA and H.E.B. will recognize this year’s CTR sponsors, vendors, supporters and volunteers with the annual Kick-Off Party at the Fountains. An invitation-only event, the Kick-Off Party allows the people that make CTR a success one last evening of fun and relaxation before the weekend begins.
Wednesday, the Courthouse Square will come alive with old-time spirit as early-birds enjoy a Cowboy Breakfast. Cowboy Breakfast is an old-fashioned breakfast of sausage, bacon, eggs, biscuits, gravy and strong coffee, all cooked over an open flame. Breakfast will be served from 6:30 – 9 a.m.
Thursday, the real action begins, as the community braces for four full days of barbecue, live music, food, fun and games.
The pinnacle of Thursday’s events will be the coronation of this year’s CTR Queen and her court. This year, nine young ladies are vying for the title of CTR Queen, three girls are competing to be Little Miss CTR, and five young men hope to be named BBQ King. The 17 youth are still working hard all over the county, selling buttons for one of the Lockhart Chamber of Commerce’s key fundraisers of the year.
To purchase a CTR button, contact the Lockhart Chamber of Commerce at 398-2818. For a full schedule of this year’s CTR events, along with other helpful hints for CTR survival, see our special “CTR 2007” pullout section in next week’s Post-Register.
