Lockhart police are investigating what appears to be the murder of 39-year-old Lockhart resident Robert Ryan Armstrong.

Local officers were called to a residence in the 800 block of Clearfork and told that 19-year-old Zachary Jacoby Cole arrived at the residence claiming he had just killed someone. Officers reported Cole told them he had argued with Armstrong during the night and believed he had “killed him with a knife.”

Information Cole gave the officers led to the discovery of Armstrong’s body in a residence in the 2200 block of Clearfork Street, and later to Cole’s arrest.

Cole was charged with Murder, and is being held in Caldwell County Jail with bond set at $1 million.
