A Caldwell County native remains behind bars and two others are hospitalized this week after a Saturday afternoon shooting on Tower Road.

Joseph F. Brewer, 39, remains behind bars, pending a $1.5 million bail, after being accused of shooting Robert Earl Lang, Jr., 58, and Phyllis Gayle Reidle, 57,

on Saturday afternoon.

Just after 2:30 p.m., Caldwell County deputies received a call about shots fired in the 400 block of Tower Road. Upon arriving on the scene, they found Lang and Reidle, who had both received multiple gunshot wounds in an altercation with Brewer. Both were transported via StarFlight to Brackenridge Hospital, where deputies report they are in serious, but stable condition after surgeries to correct their injuries.

Brewer was taken into custody at the scene, and is currently being charged with multiple counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

The incident remains under investigation, but sources say it may have begun as a domestic quarrel between Brewer and an unidentified fourth party.

Anyone with information on the shooting is encouraged to contact the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office at (512) 398-6777.
