Lockhart Special Lions compete in area games

Special Olympics Area 13 Spring Games were held Saturday, April 30, at Round Rock High School. The Lockhart delegation sent 17 athletes to compete in the Track and Field events. The Lockhart Special Lion athletes were among 32 area teams participating in a variety of events. In the Track and Field events, the Special Lions brought home six gold medals, 12 silver medals, and

five bronze medals.
Results for the Elementary division:
Sarah Stark _4th place in the 50-meter dash; Lauren Carreon – 5th place in the 50 meter dash; Casey Diaz – gold medal-first place in the 50 meter dash and silver medal-2 place in the softball throw; and Devin Curlee-Stevenson – silver medal-2 n1d place in the 50 meter dash and 4th place in the softball throw.
Results for the Jr. High division:
Dela Hoke – silver medal in the 50 meter dash and bronze medal in the softball throw; Uriel Benavides – silver medal in the 50 meter dash and silver medal in the softball throw; and Christian Osborne – bronze medal in the 50 meter dash and silver medal in the running long jump.
Result for the High School division:
Chad Gaddis – fifth place in the running long jump; Alicia Cruz – gold medal in the 50 meter walk and gold medal in the softball throw; Kathy Biggs – fourth place in the 50 meter dash and bronze medal in the softball throw; Kristen Schmidt – gold medal in the 50 meter dash and fourth place in the softball throw; Merleen Flores – gold medal in the 50 meter dash and gold medal in the softball throw; Juan Tello – silver medal in the 200 meter dash and bronze medal in the running long jump; Patrick Harris – silver medal in the 200 meter and silver medal in the running long jump; Kasey Hoch – sixth place in the softball throw and silver medal in the 50 meter walk; Adam Gonzales – silver medal in the softball throw and fifth place in the 50 meter dash; William Thomas – fourth place in the softball throw and bronze medal in the 50 meter dash.
The following coaches and chaperones that helped to make this day a success were Susan Schroeder, LeAnn Albert, Toni Salazar, Kindois Barker, Troy Hart, Vicky Martinez, Julie Green, Donna Price, Clayton Price, Amie Gonzales, Yvette Manning, Kim Kafka, and Carl Vignali.
Parent Chaperones included Kerry Gaddis, Mary Cruz, and John and Diana Thomas. Student volunteers included Brittany Hoch, Karsyn Stark, Sacora Manning, Trisha Albert, Jaime Barker, and Cassie Schroeder.
The youth group and several members of the First United Methodist Church will host the annual hot dog supper honoring these athletes on Sunday, May 15, at the FUMC Family Life Center.
