Mrs. Margaret Maney Mooney was born on Dec. 5, 1903 to the late Ambros Mooney and Calecia Shannon in Lockhart, Texas. Margaret Mooney acknowledged her faith and accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age.
She was united in holy matrimony to the late Ray Rice. To this union was born one son, Harold Ray Rice. She later married Earnest Mooney, who also precede

d her in death.
Mrs. Mooney became a member of Grant Chapel AME Church (Grant AME Worship Center) in the 1950″s. She worked diligently in the church as a stewardess, later becoming a deaconess. She was a member of the EB Scott Missionary Society, Women”s Missionary Society and the Sisters of Unity.
She loved people, traveling, driving friends around shopping, and doing missionary work. She had a great sense of humor, and was not shy about speaking out in a nice way.
Funeral services were held on Jan. 3, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Grant AME Workshop Center, 1701 Kramer Lane, Austin, Texas, with the Reverend Tiate Carson officiating. Graveside Services were held at 1 p.m. at the Hooks Cemetery in Lockhart, Texas.
Mama Mooney, as she was known to by her grandchildren, leaves to celebrate her life five generations of descendants. Starting with her son and descending to her great-great-great-grandchildren.
