Mr. Marion “Bill” Wade Bailey, 82, of Maxwell, passed away peacefully at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in New Braunfels on Wednesday, July 11, 2007.
He was born to Francis and Bertha Dingler Bailey in Fountain Hill, Ark., on Jan. 25, 1925. He married Mertha Schulze in Neiderwald, Texas on Sept. 13, 1947. He served in the military during World War II and received the

rank of PFC in the Army. He was a pastor and worked for the University of Texas for many years before his retirement. Bill also drove a school bus for 28 years for the Lockhart Independent School District. He loved to garden and do ceramics after his retirement.
Bill was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Kyle.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mertha; two sons, Richard Bailey Sr. and wife Debbie of Buda, and Billy Ray Bailey and wife Lee Anne of Maxwell; one brother, Thomas Truett Bailey of Weatherford; 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Wade, Sr. A visitation was held from 5 – 7 p.m. on Friday, July 13 at the Eeds Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 14, at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Kyle with the Rev. Dennis Koger officiating. Burial followed immediately at the Lockhart City Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were David Clifton, Robert Clifton, Wade Bailey, Dante Comminotto, Richard Bailey Jr., and Brian Bailey.
The Bailey Family wishes all contributions be made to the Immanuel Baptist Church of Kyle.
