Mary Ellison Harris, beloved mother and “Nana” to all, age 89, of Lockhart, died Friday, April 14, 2006, in Austin, Texas.
She was born June 5, 1916, in Caldwell County, Texas, to Thomas and Jennie Edmonston Ellison.
She was a member of the Clearfork Baptist Church and a member of the D.A.R. She retired as Assistant Postmaster, Freer U.S. Post Office, after 20 ye

ars. Mary was a long-time volunteer for the American Cancer Society, and for her services, she received the National Pace Setter Award in 1982. She was known and loved by many Edna residents for over 45 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Harris; seven brothers; eight sisters and by one great-grandson.
Mary is survived by her son, Raymond Lee Harris and wife Betty Jo of Sabinal; her daughters, Charlene Salge and husband Cotton of Edna and Ginger Pfeil of Lockhart; her brother, Bill Ellison of Lockhart and her sister, Edith Mullins of Bastrop. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, among them Allen Salge and wife Donna of Edna, Edie (Salge) Schuman and husband Ross of Dripping Springs, Shera (Salge) Kucera and husband Scotty of Edna; 20 great-grandchildren, among them Shane Salge, Cody Salge and wife Cynthia and Coley Salge, all of Lockhart, and three great-great-grandchildren, among them Sutton Salge and Tristan Salge.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at the Clearfork Baptist Church, Brownsboro Community, with Rev. Wayne McCrary officiating. Interment followed in the Clearfork Cemetery.
Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to the Clearfork Cemetery Association or the charity of your choice.
