Mary Fay Smith, 79, of Lockhart, Texas passed over to her Heavenly home on July 21, 2007. She has resided at the Golden Age Home since 2003. Many thanks to all who befriended her and gave care to her while she lived there. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Fay was born on Aug. 4, 1927 to Sidney Earl Miller and Rosa Leaora (Watson) and was raised in

Electra, Texas during the oil boom. She had two brothers, Earl D. and James and one sister, Elizabeth Gregory, as well as two half-brothers, Gene and Harold and one half-sister, Marie who have preceded her in death.
She married W.F. “Jimmie” Cooper in 1946 after his return from Asia Pacific during World War II. They made their home in Electra and had four children. After re-marriage in 1965, she moved away, but later returned in 1987. She moved to Lockhart, Texas in 2000.
Fay became a Christian in 1967 and loved God and her family more than anything else. She was especially proud of all her grandchildren. Her primary joys in life included reading, music, cooking, gardening, all of her pets and antique collecting. She especially enjoyed collecting ceramic birds. She was a generous person, always looking for someone to help or give her time and assistance to friends and family. She had a strong will and determination, even in her last months when she was so ill. In the end, she displayed a sweet, uncomplaining manner that showed her faith in God.
She is preceded in death by one son, Donnie Cooper.
She is survived by daughters Peggy Cooper of Longview, and Terry and husband Leo Miller of Lockhart; son Jimmie and his wife, Patty Cooper of Corinth, Texas; grandsons Stuart Bagley and Ryan, David and Daniel Miller; granddaughters Heather Bagley, Carole and Mary Cooper and Rachel, Laura, Sarah, Rebeccah, Kristen and Kayla Miller, sister-in-law Jo Miller; brothers-in -law Raymond Cooper and Richard Gregory; and numerous nieces and nephews.
It is with great sorrow that we say goodbye for a while, but rejoice in your celebration.
