Nazario “Ace” Acevedo, 50, of Dale, was reunited with the Lord on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008, in San Marcos, Texas. He was born in Ciudad Acuña, Mexico, on July 28, 1958. He grew up in Del Rio and graduated from Del Rio High School.

Ace worked for Beall’s Department Store for several years before moving to Lubbock. He was a salesman for Alderson Cadillac, Gene Messe

r Ford and Billy’s Auto Sales before moving to Dale. He was self-employed as a farrier, horse trainer and ranch hand when needed. He also worked for Lockhart Auction twice a week.

His passion for horses kept him very busy. Whether on trail rides, pleasure rides or parades, his pride and joy were his horses, Skinny and Tiny.

Everyone he met or talked to became a friend, and he will be greatly missed by his family and his friends.

Ace leaves behind his loving wife, Rachel Corona-Acevedo; his mother, Evangelina Aranda, of Del Rio; his father and stepmother, Jesus and Patricia Acevedo, of Menard; two daughters, Nazareth and Angelica Acevedo, of Lubbock; two stepsons, Mark Vega and wife, Rachel, of San Angelo, and Abraham Vega and wife, Lisha, of Tahoka; a stepdaughter, Felicia Garcia and husband, Peter, of Tahoka; a sister, Evangelina Venegas and husband, Matthew, of Cedar Park; two half-sisters, Monica Acevedo, of Dallas, and Jessica Acevedo, of Menard; five brothers, Jesus Acevedo and wife, Santa and Freddy Acevedo and wife, Sandra, all of Lubbock, Feliciano Acevedo and wife, Debby, of Georgetown, Hervey Acevedo and fiancée, Veronica, of Big Lake, and Tony Acevedo and fiancée, Corrina, of Dale. Ace is also survived by several uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces and seven step-grandchildren.

A chapel service was held on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008, at Don’s Funeral Chapel of Del Rio, Texas. Interment followed at Sunset Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Del Rio.
