Nettie lola Donehew Dodson passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at the age of 89 years and 21 days, at her home in Lockhart, Texas. She was born February 28, 1923, in a farmhouse Northwest of Pleasant Hill, Cleveland County, Oklahoma.

She was the third daughter of Fred and Evie Donehew.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Zachary Taylor Do

nehew and Emma Saleeta Mizer Donehew; her maternal grandparents, Robert Samuel Vaughn and Pearl Ann Chapel Vaughn; her parents, Frederick Shields Donehew and Geneva Jane Vaughn Donehew; her oldest sister, Ruby Bell Donehew Stinnett; her eldest daughter, Nelda lola Dodson Smith; two of Nelda”s children, Glenn Owen Smith and Carol Lynn Smith; and her beloved son-in-law, John “John Boy” Gault.

She is survived by her loving son and caregiver Freddie Joe Dodson, of Lockhart; daughter, Wanda Faye Dodson Haley, also of Lockhart; daughter, Ruby Nell Dodson Gault, of Granite Shoals, Texas; four grandchildren; three great-grandsons; two great-granddaughters; and one great-great-grandson; sisters: Gladys Odell Blalock, Beulah Lorene Thompson and Norma Ruth Bruehl, all of Norman, Okla.; brother, Gerald Ray Donehew of San Antonio; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A visitation was held Friday, March 23, 2012, from 6:30 – 8 p.m. at the Eeds Funeral Home Chapel, Lockhart, Texas. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 24, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Bethel Primitive Baptist Church in McMahan, Texas, with Elders Sonny Huckaby and Hulan Bass officiating.

Serving as the pallbearers were Ray Donehew, Tony Veal, Sawyer Burditt, Bobby Evans, John Marshall Baker and Tom Owen. Burial followed at the Jeffrey Cemetery, in McMahan, Texas.
