Agapita “Pete” Tello, 91, of Lytton Springs, died Sunday Jan. 22, 2012 in Luling.
Agapita was born March 25, 1920,to Luciana and Jose Cruz. She graduated from Austin High School. She was married to Benancio “Ben” Tello until his death in 1978. She was also preceded in death by her mother and father and most recently by daughters-in-law Eulalia Tello, (Sept.2006), Kathy Tello, (April 2007), and great-grandson-in-law John Edward “Eddie” De Leon, Sr. (June 2007).
Agapita was a devoted wife and homemaker. She retired from the Department of Public Safety in Austin in 2001 after 21 years of service. Agapita was known as “Pete” by all her friends and, as “Granny” by all her loved ones.
Survivors include three sons: Lawrence Tello, of Quitman, Martin Tello and wife, Dora, of Lytton Springs, and John Tello, of Cedar Creek. Agapita is also survived by one granddaughter Elena Meyer Hill and husband, Jason, of Lytton Springs; grandsons Frank Tello and wife, Patricia, of Lockhart, Joe Tello and wife, Vanessa, of Quitman, and Paul Tello and Kaye Wagner, of Lytton Springs; great-grandchildren: Jamie Kenney, Jayson Meyer, Alyssa Meyer, Franky Tello, Benjamin Tello, Rhiannon Tello George, Bryan Tello, Brittni Tello, Melony Tello, and Tamara Jones; and great-great grandchildren: Eddie De Leon, Jr., Aamori De Leon, Zayda Luera, Kyndra Luera, Lexus Meyer, Hunter Tello, Gracyn George, Wyatt George, Zoey Tello, Gavin Tello and Kingston Jones; as well as godson, Ben Rodriguez and his granddaughter, Kendall Rodriguez.
The family wishes to thank the Oak Creek Nursing Home staff, (Ms. Edwina for always keeping us up to date), Dr. Arjun Mohandas, and CTMC Hospice of San Marcos for their help these last two and half months. The family would also like to thank Pastor Bud Cheatham for his prayers and support during this time of our loss.
