Amanda Agnes Caldwell of Lockhart, Texas went to her heavenly home on May 22, 2006 at the age of 87. She was a strong, fun loving family-oriented wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was deeply loved and will be forever missed. She enjoyed gardening, canning, volunteer work, the Lutheran Women”s Missionary League and spending time with her grandchildr

en. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Lutheran Women”s Missionary League, a life member of Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post #8927, and a member of Henry T. Rainey Post #41 American Legion Auxiliary.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Oswald and Marie Rauder; brother, Walter Rauder; sisters, Anna Rauder, Frieda Thiem and Ella Behrens; and one great-grandson, John Michael Gadouas.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Lester Caldwell of Lockhart; daughters, Ruby Owen and husband, John of Lockhart and Phoebe Giddens of Houston; brother, Ervin Rauder and wife, Mary Francis of Houston; sister, Alma McWright of Austin; sister-in-law, Elsie Rauder of Houston; grandchildren, Randy Owen and wife, Becky, Krisi Antonitis and husband, Jim, Stacie Schroeder and husband, Trey, Cassy Sandobal and husband, John, Bert Giddens and wife, Jennifer and Brittany Burns and husband, Harvey; five great-granddaughters; one great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family received friends on Friday, May 26, 2006 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Cook-Walden Funeral Home. Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 27, 2006 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Nuckols of St. Paul Lutheran Church officiating. Interment followed at Cook-Walden Memorial Hill Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were her nephews: A.Y. McWright and William Behrens; grandsons Randy Owen and Bert Giddens; and family friends John Morris and Craig Romans.
Her family extends special thanks to all at Central Texas Medical Center and Hospice of CTMC for providing gentle and loving care in Mrs. Caldwell”s final days.
