Betty Jean Sowell passed away Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at the age of 68, in Midland, Texas after a battle with cancer.

Betty was born on June 5, 1941, to Frank and Sabie Tombaugh, in Tahlequah, Okla. She married Charles Wayne Sowell, on Aug. 12, 1960.

She resided in Lockhart, Texas for the last 50 years. Betty worked at G & G Laundromat for Elizabeth Gosc

h and Alice Guinn for the past 25 years.

She was long time member of Faith Chapel.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Sabie Tombaugh; her husband, Charles “Red” Sowell; and both of his parents, Charles and Gladys Smith Sowell.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and James Alexander, of Caddo Mills; son and fiancé, Franklin Sowell and Teresa Randolph, of Midland, Texas; son, Timothy Sowell, of Lockhart; brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Barbara Tombaugh, of Van Alatyne, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Billie and JB Owens of Buda, Texas; and her six grandchildren: Eddie and Amy Sowell, Allisa, Taylor and Sabie Alexander, and Trinady Sowell along with her numerous friends who will cherish her loving memory.

The influence and grace that she left on each and every life she touched will never be forgotten. We would like to send our heart felt thanks to those that have helped and supported Betty and her families in there time of need. Special thanks also to Hospice of Midland for the love and care given Betty and her families during her illness.

Memorial services will held Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, at 2 p.m. at the Gospel Light House Church located at 2220 S. Colorado and South Hwy 183 next to Henslee’s Auto Parts in Lockhart, Texas with Bobbie Osborn officiating.
