Many people knew Bishop Ira Darden, Sr. from the community in Lockhart, Texas. He served as Senior Pastor of Rivers of Joy Temple of Worship for more than 15 years. He leaves behind two great-aunts, Lucille Binder and Mother Narvel Jones; one aunt, Elizabeth (Leonard) Nash, and uncle, Charles (Georgette) Patterson; four sons: Ira (Angela) Jr, Karsten Darden, David (Mary) Bryant and Jason Bryant; and four daughters: Keshah (Perry) Walker, LaTanya (Keith) Brown, Felicia (Ervin) Jackson and Karma (Tarik) Sykes. He has eight siblings: Elroy (Erma) Darden, Mattie Darden Mathis, Claude Darden, Alice (Robert) Davis, M. Linda (Lamar) Berry, Ruth (Anthony) Darden-City, Floria Gail Darden, Ardella (Clifford) Darden-Ohueri; a numerous amount of grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

 

 Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2013, at 10 a.m. at St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 1812 E. M. Franklin, Austin, Texas. Entombment will follow immediately at Assumption Cemetery in Austin, Texas.
